Serendipity In the Midst of the Royal Wedding

Well, it’s over. The big royal wedding. I admit, I watched the wedding live. Not something I planned. It was an accidental discovery of sorts. See, I was awake and at the laptop working on a project. My fingers had been tapping away at the keyboard for hours on end and they were growing tired. I was very much in need of a little break. Upon looking up, I noticed the time was just a few minutes past 1am in California, so I thought, “Oh yeah, the wedding. What the hell. Why not?” I launched a browser and checked BBCNews for a status update. Wow, another accidental discovery: the wedding streaming live! Cool, I can dig on that. I just hope there are no commercials. That would be so inappropriate, and tacky.

Desperately in need of a quiet distraction, I slip on my headphones as usual and experienced another accidental discovery: no network newscaster babble. That lack of useless noise took surprised me. How delightful to hear only church bell. How wonderful to hear the cacophony of wedding guests happily chatting away and the cheers from the crowds as important royals drove up in front of the Abbey. Eventually, I am aware I am no longer working on my project. Another accidental discovery: this wedding video is something I never expected. The whole experience is relaxing, but why? How?

The answer is simple: no network newscasters, no voiceovers, no useless commentary and no commercials shouting at me ‘but wait, there’s more,’ call today, buy this and ask my doctor for that!

Yes, BBCNews proved a live news broadcast of an incredibly important event can be done without the irritation of useless commentary. How refreshing. A serendipitous discovery!
